Monday

10.00 VISIT TO THE GOLD FIELDS OF LAPLAND. During the trip you will learn about the geology of the area and you’ll have a great opportunity to hear legendary stories from the real gold miner. After a cup of coffee and “a golden pancake” you can feel the gold fever by your own hands. You’ll learn the original way of gold prospecting and you can keep all the gold and gem stones that you’ll find.

Tuesday

13.00 VISITING A LOCAL REINDEER FARM. You can make a trip on your own to a reindeer farm which is located just about 9 km from the centre of Saariselkä. On the farm you will learn about Lappish culture and reindeer herding. The Reindeer Herder greets you welcome to his farm and tells about sami culture and reindeer herding. He will arrange a lasso throwing training, feed reindeer together with you and invite you for coffee and cake in a Lappish teepee, “kota”. He will tell you a lot about their life and about reindeer and you will get answers to all your questions concerning samis and reindeer.

17.00 LAPPISH WELCOMING CEREMONY. Lappish shaman, dressed in a traditional Sámi costume, will fare you welcome into Lapland. During the “ceremony” you will hear about living in a wilderness and before saying goodbye, the shaman will sing you a traditional joiku song.

9.25 TRIP TO SÁMI MUSEUM SIIDA. Please see more details from “trips on your own”.

10.00 HIKING TRIP TO UKK – National park. During the trip you will walk through beautiful wildernes scenery. Guide will tell you about Lappish nature and about plants and berries that grow in there. He’ll also tell how local cultures have used nature sources in surviving the arctic hemisphere. On the trail there is a pause at the traditional Kota hut, where you will fry sausages and make coffee by the open fire. With the coffee there is also served a Finnish cinnamon bun, korvapuusti. After the brake you will return to the hotel with many beautiful memories with you.
Duration: 2 –3 hours. Walking distance from 2,5 – 3 kilometres, depending on the group. Price: 40 eur / person. Minimum: 2 persons. (Organized by: Inari Arctic Nature).

Thursday

22.30 BRIGHT SUMMER NIGHT OF LAPLAND. In this program we will enjoy Lapland’s beautiful nature and bright summer night without any hurry or stress. After a short drive by car, we will hike trough the forest to a nice fireplace. There we can enjoy the beautiful view and take a feeling of the bright summer night of Lapland. If we have some luck and the sky is clear, we can see the midnight sun. In the same time we can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and pastry by the open fire.
The price includes transfer, guiding service and coffee/tee and pastry. Duration: 2- 3 hours. Walking distance from 1 – 3 kilometres, depending on the group. Price: 45 eur / person. Minimum: 2 persons (NOTE program is done as midnight sun walk between 1.6.-31.7. Between 1.8.-31.10. it is done as scenery walk). (Organized By: Inari Arctic Nature).

Friday

10.00 TRY YOUR LUCK AT FISHING. Go cast fishing in the virgin area of beautiful lake Taimenjärvi. This lake is located in the middle of the beautiful, old pine tree forest area. During the trip there is a light lunch and coffee break by the campfire at the kota building.
Duration: 3 hours. Price: 80 eur / person. Minimum: 3 persons. (organized by: Luontoloma Pro Safaris).

Trips on your own

VISIT TO THE SÁMI MUSEUM SIIDA
This spectacular museum gives you a great view to Lappish nature, sámi culture and to the area’s history. Exhibitions have great lay out, so it is easy to visit by yourself. In the museum building there is also a restaurant Sarrit and a small gift shop.
Tickets: 8 eur / person, 16 eur / family (2 adults + children under 18 years). On Wednesdays there is transportation back and forth from Saariselkä. Departure from Saariselkä to Inari at 9.25 with route coach (normal route coach fee). Departure back to Saariselkä from Inari at 16.15 ( 14 eur / person, booking from reception). Please not that the transportation back to Saariselkä must be booked in advance.

DAILY TRIP TO THE ARCTIC OCEAN - NORWAY
Take a memorable ride through the scenic Lappish trail all the way to the shores of Arctic Ocean. During the way you will pass the Sámi village Inari and Sklot Sámi village Sevettijärvi. Destination of the trip is the city of Kirkeness on the Norway coast of Arctic Ocean. During the day you will have short breaks to take pictures of the beautiful landskape surrounding the road. Daily trip starts from front of Tunturi Hotel at 7am.

VISIT TO THE WORLD’S LARGEST GOLD MUSEUM
About 30 kilometres south from Saariselkä in Tankavaara is located the world’s largest gold museum. This exhibition gives you a great window into the history of Lappish gold prospecting and also includes a wide exhibition about gold around the world. There is also possibility to try the gold washing by your own hand. There is also own tavern, Wanha Waskoolimies in the gold village.
After visiting the gold museum it is also worth while to visit the Koiliskaira nature centre located close by. It gives you information about UKK National park and the wildlife located inside the park.
Price: 8 eur / person. Children 4 eur / person. Possibility to gold washing 5 eur / person. Koiliskaira nature centre: Free of charge.
